Tragic deaths in UK hotel fire

Reports today tell of the tragic deaths of two people in a hotel fire in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Our sympathies go to those people, their families and friends.

By posting a link to this news story here, we're not suggesting that the deaths have anything to do with hearing loss or lack of safety equipment but it's incidents like this which spur us on to raise awareness with the hospitality industry of the needs of people with hearing loss when staying in hotels as we know that without our hearing aids, we wouldn't be roused by a standard fire alarm.

Tragedies like this send a shiver down my spine and make me worry whenever I have to stay away from home somewhere that doesn't provide me with a Deafgard (or similar device). This really is the reason behind us setting up Access Solutions and why we endeavour to find accommodation which has appropriate safety equipment and procedures in place so we can promote them via Hearing Loss Friendly.
