#HearingLossHour
You can follow the tweets from Hearing Loss Friendly by following @HearingLossHour and you can join in #HearingLossHour on Twitter, 1-2pm (UK time) on the first Wednesday of every month. We'll be chatting about living with hearing loss and swapping tips, advice and experiences.
If you have a blog about life with deafness you'd like to promote or news to share, then don't miss #HearingLossHour.
Make sure you remember to add the hashtag '#HearingLossHour' to every tweet so we can all follow the conversation!
If you're new to Twitter, read all about how to take part here.
Hearing Loss friendly
You've heard of dog-friendly accommodation, family-friendly holidays and female-friendly hotels? Well, hearing loss friendly is the next big thing in accommodation searches for the ten million people in the UK who have hearing loss.
Hearing Loss Friendly is our free membership website for people with hearing loss to search for accessible venues and accommodation. In order to be listed, establishments must be hearing loss friendly in terms of:
-
Ease of making enquiries and bookings
-
Clear and well publicised Access Statements
-
Check in/key collection
-
Staff training
-
Specialist equipment
-
Evacuation procedures
-
Hearing loops/infrared systems
-
Special features (e.g. quiet spaces, quiet household appliances, looped meeting rooms, etc.)
Once an establishment has achieved the Sounds Good Charter Mark, it will be eligible for listing on the Hearing Loss Friendly website and can immediately be seen by people with hearing loss.
