ABOUT

Based in Kelso in the heart of the Scottish Borders, Aspinall Ink provides professional writing services.

ANGIE ASPINALL

When I was 10 years old, I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without a moment's hesitation, I said I wanted to become a writer. By the age of 20, my writing was being published in a range of local magazines.

After graduating, I started a career in local government, but I continued writing arts and music reviews as a hobby.

In 2011, I suffered sudden profound hearing loss in one ear which, coupled with existing hearing loss in the other ear, rendered me unable to confidently carry out my customer-facing job. Richard and I then decided we wanted to be our own bosses and to work together. And so, Aspinall Ink was born.

I'm now a freelance journalist whose articles have been published in LandScape, Coast, Your Dog, Dog Friendly, and Dalesman magazines. I also write editorial copy and digital content. My areas of interest are the Scottish Borders, travel, food and drink, dogs, artists and makers, social media, hearing loss, disability, and access issues.

In 2015, I founded #HearingLossHour - a live monthly Twitter chat for people with hearing loss. It takes place on the first Tuesday of each month.
